So I’m not sure if it’s everyone’s tradition to go to a pumpkin patch in October or if it’s just us. And since my son is currently at a field trip with his school at Holiday Farms which looks pretty darn awesome, thought i’d share our faves and most recent patches.
We love the find of a good farm patch, anyone can buy pumpkins in a parking lot or grocery store. Going to a farm is so much more fun, even if you aren’t getting them off the vine, the farm pumpkin patch generally has other things like the hay rides or corn trails etc.
Our pumpkin patch of choice in central California was in Reedley at Hillcrest Farm generally, they have good priced pumpkins, and a great variety. They have train rides, rope bridge, tree house, a couple of play houses in the woods, some times they have other events going on it is always a ton of fun. We found it via a local morning show the week we moved to Lemoore. We also checked out Vossler Farms we didn’t do their awesome corn maze, our little goobers were cranky that day and it may have been unseasonable warm. Both worth checking out, in opposite directions.
While in Virginia we went to a farm right outside of Charlottesville in a town called Ruckersville, the farm is called Greenfield Farm it had an admission price ($6, under 2 free) but they didn’t charge for hay rides, or cornmaze like a lot of places do. It was all inclusive except the pumpkins. The selection was limited but we went at the end of the season. We still walked away with three awesome pumpkins and a lot of fun.
They had these mailboxes through the cornmaze with questions and answers about farms.
This tunnel slide was fun, families went down together, my little Chloe went down alone. It was big enough for grown ups and slow enough for small kids if someone catches them. As you can see from the pic the landing can be springy.
This spider to climb on had a slide down.
Most people ended climbing on the hay maze.
Where are some of the best pumpkin patches, cornmazes or fall fests you’ve been too? Please share we are always looking for somewhere new.
