Sometimes you take a road you’ve never taken beforehand to see where it goes. Sometimes you find nothing but empty houses for sale, which is fine because an empty lot can house so many day dreams. But every now and then you find something real, and you keep coming back.
Fort Fremont is out on St.Helena Island toward lands end. And although the keep is questionable and graffiti covers most of the walls, the location and architecture are interesting enough.
There is beach access to a thin strip of public beach where you can see the neighboring sea islands that the fort was made to protect.
Go check it out. Take bug spray. Lots of mosquitoes.
